Peter L. Festa graduated from William Paterson University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science, Magna Cum Laude in 1990, and graduated from Touro Law School in 1994 in the top third of his class.  While at Touro he was a member of the Moot Court Board and a State Champion, Regional Finalist.  Mr. Festa was admitted to practice law in the state of New Jersey in 1994.  After graduation from law school, Mr. Festa began a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Marilyn C. Clark, P.J.S.C. in Passaic County, where he served in both the Family and Criminal Parts during his one-year clerkship.  This front-row seat to multiple jury trials, along with his prior experience working with some of New Jersey’s most prominent trial lawyers sparked his desire to be a trial attorney.

In June, 1996, Mr. Festa joined Fusco & Macaluso, P.C. as an associate attorney where he handled criminal and personal injury cases. After several municipal court and administrative trials, Mr. Festa tried his first major criminal trial, an attempted murder case. From that moment on, Mr. Festa’s ambition was to be a trial attorney and he became fascinated with all aspects of the jury trial, especially understanding the inner workings of jurors and juror psychology. After his initial criminal trial, Mr. Festa proceeded to try thirteen criminal jury trials and two personal injury jury trials in the next eighteen months at the firm. With an ever-increasing client list and significant trial success, Mr. Festa decided to venture out on his own.

In January, 1998, Mr. Festa opened his own practice in Paterson, New Jersey focusing on criminal, family and personal injury work. Mr. Festa continued to handle significant matters, including a highly publicized triple murder and various complex personal injury cases.

In over twenty years practicing law, Mr. Festa has tried more than fifty cases in Passaic, Bergen, Morris, Essex and Hudson counties, including ten homicide cases.

Mr. Festa approaches both civil and criminal cases with the same focus and always strives to be forthright and creative in telling his clients’ stories. Mr. Festa has represented both well known clients and everyday people and treats all with the same respect, vigor and determination to obtain favorable results for each respective client.

Mr. Festa has earned the reputation as a “Lawyer for the People” a nickname given to him by a colleague, and his client centric approach and reliance on results were born early in his career and continue to this day.

In January 2020 Mr. Festa accepted an offer to serve as the managing attorney for Ricigliano & Filopei’s New Jersey office on Bergenline Avenue in West New York New Jersey, where he will continue to practice personal injury and criminal law.

Mr. Festa is a proud member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, the Passaic County Bar Association and the New Jersey Association of Justice. He is also a member of the Passaic County Pro Bono Services, which offers legal services to those that cannot afford them and he is a supporter of many local organizations including Paterson All-Wags Athletics, Cycle for Survival, an organization affiliated with Sloan Kettering that raises money for cancer research and the New Jersey and United States Golden Gloves Organizations.
